Question:

I had filed for divorce back in August of 2009. I paid my lawyer $2,500. I have been trying to contact her for over a month now and she has not returned my calls. She knew the last time I talked with her that I was attempting reconciliation with my husband. I had left her 3 messages regarding a partial refund and she is dodging me. My husband's lawyer charged him a $1,500 retainer and she is giving him a partial refund. Why did my lawyer charge me almost double? The only thing my lawyer has done so far is show up for a support hearing for 45 minutes and file some papers. I do not believe that is worth $2,500 dollars. My lawyer also knew I was struggling with credit card debt and she also knew I was a single mom who is collecting unemployment and she knew I may go bankrupt. The credit card I had charged her on has an interest rate of 25.99% and I am struggling. I believe I should get most of my retainer back. What can I do? Please help. My life cannot possibly get any worse than this. Thank You.
